π Social Impact Story: Uplifting Chicken
In the heart of Bahati, Jomvu, a young entrepreneur named Zacharia Maganga Nyambu is rewriting the narrative of youth unemployment through poultry farming. His project, Uplifting Chicken, was born from the Mbele na Biz initiative—a partnership between the World Bank and the Government of Kenya under the Kenya Youth Employment and Opportunities Project (KYEOP).
With a grant of KSh 900,000 and personal investment of KSh 145,000, Zacharia transformed a simple idea into a thriving agribusiness. In its early phase, the project has already generated KSh 150,000 in sales, proving that youth-led ventures can be both impactful and profitable.
But the story goes beyond numbers. Uplifting Chicken:
- π£ Creates jobs for local youth
- π½️ Enhances food security in the community
- πͺ Builds entrepreneurial confidence and resilience
- π± Promotes sustainable farming practices
This is more than a poultry farm—it's a blueprint for youth empowerment, economic inclusion, and community transformation. Zacharia’s journey shows that with the right support, young people can uplift entire communities—one chicken at a time.
